Packet Highlights
Please read all the documentation provided below this highlights section.
RULES: Make sure you review the Little League rules and interleague rules (in list below) for your division. Obtain the Little League Rulebook app for Android or iPhone and read the rules for your division, also. If you need assistance with the one-time $2 fee for the app, please let a board member know.
BACKGROUND CHECKS: All adults who interact with players or assist on field or in the concession stand MUST complete a volunteer form with a background check. This is needed to cover everyone under the league policy and to follow Little League guidelines for background checks for all adults interacting with participants.
ALL-STAR TOURNAMENT: Please understand that to qualify for All-Star, players must have played ten (10) games, be in their age level or up, and must live or attend school within the Taylor Little League boundaries. Please tell parents to prepare for All-Star practices in late May/early June with All-Star games in June and possibly July.
COMMUNICATION: Please communicate using GroupMe or Text Messaging to your players. Call each one to inform them of when and where practices begin. If you can not reach a player, contact the player agent immediately.
SCHEDULES: Games are normally on Saturdays. All other divisions will have one game during the week except for teeball. Teeball may have an occasional game on Monday. Schedules for spring are not released until a week or two before the season begins.
UNIFORM RULES
For divisions other than teeball: Players who catch must wear a cup. Please ensure this is occurring.
All players must wear their uniform with cap during games.
Players must have baseball pants for the spring season. The color of pants is up to coaches for each team. Gray is normally the most popular as white is harder to keep clean and stain free.
Scorekeeping must be kept for all teams above teeball to track stats to provide to district to qualify players for All-Star Play. Please find a parent scorekeeper if you do not have one assigned to you already. You can print scoring sheets off our site, obtain scorekeeping books or use the SportsConnect app to track stats.
Parents are EXPECTED to help in the concession stand at least two games, minimum. The concession stand is one of our main fundraisers to keep league registration fees reasonably low. Games will not start until concession help is available. We encourage parents to volunteer a half day on Saturdays or a full evening during the week games to man the concession stand.
Umpires: Work with your parents to find at least two volunteers to umpire before the season begins. We will hold a training session for everyone to understand and excel at the position. We need this list by March 1st. Those who volunteer need to complete the volunteer form in the system that will include the start of the background check process.
COVID-19 Protocols: Remind parents to follow the COVID-19 safety plan. Remind parents to be aware of their participant's health and hold them out of games in which they show different symptoms. Report any possible contact or cases to the board immediately. Please note that while the city/county is in the transmission rate of red, all parents and participants NOT on the field should wear a mask.
BAD WEATHER
Participants MUST LEAVE THE FIELD AND TAKE COVER if the lightning alarms sound at the fields OR lightning is seen. Please review the bad weather policy lightning section for further guidance.
Please find a couple of parents who will assist raking the fields after each practice. Please be sure to rake the baselines, around home plate, around the bases and ensure the pitcher's mound (if applicable) is in good shape. Report any issues to the Field Maintenance Coordinator.
Remember to lock bathrooms, gates, pickup trash (suggest team do this) and turn lights off once practice has concluded.
If there is an accident or incident, please report it immediately to the Taylor Little League Board at [email protected] and contact the Safety Officer.
If you have questions, please contact one of the board members.
All coaches should read the following documentation.
